Garmin GPS for Flight Instructors

This course is supplemental to the Flight Instructor Refresher Course and is designed to introduce and refresh techniques for teaching GPS using the Garmin GNS 430 and the Garmin GTN 750. The course has elements from our Level I and Level II GPS courses.

Learn how to utilize these units for VFR operations and how to teach your commercial students to use these units during their commercial pilot flight training and for their flight test. IFR operations are introduced for flight planning and RNAV approaches including the WAAS LPV approach.

Learn to use the world’s most popular and best selling panel-mount GPS/NAV/COM receiver, the Garmin GNS 430 and the new touch-screen Garmin GTN 750.  Experience hands-on training using an actual TSO C129a certified Garmin GNS 430 receiver in a fully functional desktop workstation with no more than three trainees per workstation.  The instructor will use various on-screen presentations and the PC-based Garmin GNS 430 simulator for demonstrations and then you will practice the procedures on the Garmin GNS 430 workstation giving you lots of experience with tactile learning.

Learn various tips and techniques for teaching your students the ins-and-outs of the Garmin GNS 430.
